Last week during class, I was approached by two students who asked me to be a judge for the final round of the school’s English speaking competition. I decided to accept the invitation, as a way to give back to the school and to be more involved on campus; plus, I thought the students might say some funny things during it.

Highlights, Challenges, and Lessons Learned during my First Two Weeks of Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)

Highlights from My First Two Weeks of Teaching ESL

  • Finding out the English name of one of my students is Blockbuster (Yes, you read that correctly. Blockbuster, just like the failed video rental company.)
  • Having multiple students tell me how beautiful I am (they are very flattering)
  • Being able to incorporate the song “Fifty Nifty United States” into my lesson plan on U.S. geography (of course I told them Minnesota is the best state 🙂 ) Continue reading
